Rain washes out fourth T20 between Black Caps and West Indies
The fourth T20 International between the Black Caps and West Indies in Nelson was abandoned due to rain.
Only 6.3 overs were played before rain began at Saxton Oval and did not subside sufficiently for the field to return.
The Black Caps lead the series 2-1, and the final match will be played in Dunedin on Thursday afternoon.
Play was first halted after five overs, with West Indies at 30/0, after Mitch Santner won the toss for the Black Caps and elected to bowl.
Drizzle was followed by steady rain, forcing players back into the pavilion.
The weather improved shortly after, but they could only play 1.3 overs before rain resumed. During this period, West Indies scored 38 runs but lost the wicket of Alick Athanase, who played a high shot off Jimmy Neesham, and was caught by Daryl Mitchell.
The players were fortunate not to return and the captains decided to abandon the match at 4.08pm.
