Police told 680 Newsradio that the driver of the older model Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was not present at the scene of the accident.

Toronto police say a late-night crash involving an allegedly impaired driver caused chaos near Kingston Road and Victoria Park Avenue, damaging a building, colliding with three vehicles, and causing a gas leak, requiring emergency response.

According to officials, officers were called to the area at approximately 10:26 p.m. Wednesday after receiving reports of a vehicle hitting a building at 996 Kingston Road. The impact ruptured a gas line, prompting Toronto Fire Services to respond to the scene to contain the leak.

Police told 680 Newsradio that the driver of the older model Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was not present at the scene of the accident. Despite extensive damage to the front of the truck – including a torn bumper – the driver reportedly continued driving.

Shortly afterward, the pickup truck struck three more vehicles before finally stopping nearby. Officers quickly located the truck and arrested the driver.

Toronto police confirmed to 680 News Radio that the driver was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence. No injuries were immediately reported, and the person has not been identified.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
