The city of Toronto and Blue Jays fans are expecting large crowds to fill the streets tonight as the team attempts to win its first World Series in over 30 years.

The visiting Blue Jays defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-1 on Wednesday to take a 3-2 lead in the series going into Game 6.

The Jays will now attempt to win the Commissioner's Trophy in front of a packed house at Toronto's Rogers Centre and millions of viewers across Canada. The seventh game will be played on Saturday, if necessary.

The city will host a free public watch party at Nathan Phillips Square for the sixth game, which coincides with Halloween festivities, and for the seventh game as well, if necessary.

The city says it is working closely with Rogers Centre, Toronto Police, transportation agencies, and others to prepare for "all possible scenarios."

Toronto police say they have made "extensive plans" since the Jays secured a spot in the World Series and will work with neighboring police services to provide additional support on Friday.

Fans can expect a "significant and visible" police presence inside and outside the stadium, and officers will be on hand to assist with road closures, crowd management, and emergency response.

Police said in a statement, "We understand how important this moment is for the city. We want everyone to remember this weekend with pride."

The Toronto Transit Commission said it would increase service on two main subway lines and downtown streetcar routes as much as possible for Game 6 and, if necessary, Game 7. The commission said subway closures planned for Friday and the weekend have been postponed to a later date.

Last week, the Jays won the decisive seventh game of the American League Championship Series against the Seattle Mariners, with thousands of enthusiastic fans filling the streets of Toronto, chanting and honking car horns to celebrate the team's first World Series appearance since 1993.
