Joey Barton found guilty of sending offensive online posts
Former footballer Joey Barton has been found guilty of sending highly offensive social media posts about broadcaster Jeremy Vine and TV football pundits Lucy Ward and Eni Aluko
A jury at Liverpool Crown Court found that 43-year-old Barton had "crossed the line between freedom of expression and criminality" by making six posts on X (formerly Twitter).
He was acquitted of six other charges of sending highly offensive electronic messages with intent to cause distress or anxiety between January and March 2024.
