Man Dies After Falling From Fishing Boat in Donegal
A 40-year-old fisherman died after falling from a boat off the coast of County Donegal, Republic of Ireland.
The incident occurred near Arranmore at approximately 1:25 a.m. local time on Tuesday.
The Garda (Irish police) said the man was later taken to Sligo University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Irish broadcaster RTE reported that the man was not originally from Ireland, but had been living in Greencastle, Inishowen, for several years.
A Department of Transport spokesperson said the Coast Guard Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Malin responded to a mayday call from the vessel.
He said the fishing vessel's crew pulled the injured person from the water.
The vessel was subsequently technically inspected, and the Marine Accident Investigation Board and the Health and Safety Authority have been informed.
