Crystal Palace have reportedly agreed in principle a deal worth around £50m to sign Wolves striker Jørgen Strand Larsen.

Sources have indicated that Palace's interest in the 25-year-old forward has intensified over the past 24 hours, and a formal bid is now expected.

Palace broke their club record earlier this month with a £35m deal for Wales striker Brennan Johnson, but the potential arrival of Strand Larsen would eclipse that transfer.

It is understood that Wolves are prepared to sell the Norway international this month, provided they receive a fee similar to the £55m offer they rejected from Newcastle for the striker during the summer transfer window.

A £40m offer from Leeds has already been rejected by Wolves, and the Elland Road club are not currently prepared to increase their bid.

Palace's pursuit of Strand Larsen has added further uncertainty to the future of Jean-Philippe Mateta at Selhurst Park in the final days of the transfer window.
Mateta wants to leave Palace and has informed the club's management of his desire.

Juventus and AC Milan are among the clubs who have shown concrete interest in the France international, while Nottingham Forest made an offer of around £35m for Mateta over the weekend.

It is believed that Mateta is keen to play Champions League football, but a move to Forest could be a financially lucrative option for the 28-year-old.
