TikTok's new US owner has apologized to thousands of users for "outages" following reports of problems affecting the video-sharing app.

Platform outage monitor Downdetector said it saw more than 600,000 reports of glitches from US TikTok users over the weekend.

Problems reported by users included videos repeatedly appearing in the "For You" feed, some content not displaying, and new posts receiving "zero views" – issues that persisted for some users as of Monday.

TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC, which now oversees the platform and its operations in the US, said it is "working to restore our services following a power outage at a US data center that impacted TikTok and other apps we run."

"We are working with our data center partner to stabilize our service," the company said in a post on the social media platform TikTok.
"We apologize for this disruption and hope it will be fixed soon."

TikTok's US data center partner, Oracle, declined to comment on the outage.

The cloud computing giant plays a key role in TikTok's US operations, under a deal finalized on Thursday that secures the app's future in the US.

What does the new US TikTok deal mean for users?

These problems sparked speculation and concerns that the TikTok glitches were a result of its new ownership or expected changes to the US app's algorithm.

US TikTok users began complaining about problems affecting their TikTok feeds and content on Sunday.

Downdetector reported that it saw 663,061 reports from US users between Saturday evening and Monday, with some reporting "complete outages" across the entire platform. Reports of problems appeared to decrease overnight on Sunday, but increased again on Monday as some TikTok users in the US continued to experience issues.

CapCut, a video editing app owned by TikTok, also saw thousands of problem reports from users on Downdetector.

Users of the video-sharing app in the US took to rival social media platforms to post about app problems.

"Okay, so is anyone else's TikTok running very slow, keeps showing old videos, doesn't show what you search for, and some things don't load...?" Several posts on X, in which some TikTok users said they were unable to see creator tools on the app, including those that allow them to view their share of the advertising revenue that TikTok gives to creators who make popular posts.

Some people also said that videos they uploaded to the platform weren't getting as much visibility as they usually do, or were "stuck at zero views."

Under the deal brokered by President Donald Trump that allowed TikTok to continue operating in the US, Oracle will review and retrain a separate version of its algorithm for US users.

The cloud company is one of three managing investors in TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC, which holds a 15% stake in the spun-off US entity.

It is also responsible for securing US user data on a large scale – something it was already doing to some extent under an existing security arrangement called Project Texas.
