Actor’s Daughter Shares Heartbreaking Dementia Update

According to Entertainment Weekly, actress Rumer Willis gave a candid update on her father, Bruce Willis,'s ongoing battle with frontotemporal dementia (FTD). She explained that while he's not feeling "great," he's managing as best he can.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Rumer Willis said during a Q&A with fans on Instagram, "People always ask me how he's doing, and I think that's a little hard to answer because the truth is, no one with FTD is doing well."

According to InStyle, she emphasized the emotional toll of her father's condition and explained that despite the difficulties, she's grateful for moments of connection and love. She said she can still feel "a spark of him" when they spend time together. According to the report, she said, "I'm so happy and grateful that I can still go and hug him. I'm so grateful that when I go and hug him, whether he recognizes me or not, he can feel the love I give him, and I can feel the same love back from him."

According to Entertainment Weekly, Bruce Willis was first diagnosed with aphasia in 2022, which progressed to a frontotemporal dementia diagnosis in February 2023. His family has spoken openly about the challenges of this condition, which currently has no treatment or cure.

The actor's wife, Emma Heming Willis, took to Instagram to share her husband's health update on Father's Day this year.

In an Instagram post, she wrote, "Happy Father's Day to all the dads living with a disability or illness who are showing up in whatever way they can, and to the kids who show up for them."

Heming Willis shared her husband's updated diagnosis in a Father's Day post, saying, "These symbolic days teach so much."

She wrote, "I'm so sad today. I wish, with every cell in my body, that things would be different for him and that everything would be lighter for our family."

But Heming Willis also used the post to share some encouraging messages and talk about her husband's presence in her children's lives; she and the actor have two daughters, in addition to three with actress Demi Moore – including Rumer.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Rumer Willis shared in her post this week that she's especially grateful for the time she spends with her father, especially seeing him interact with their 2-year-old daughter, Louetta, finding moments of joy and connection despite the difficult circumstances.
