David and Victoria Beckham's son, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, has said he does not want to reconcile with his family.

The 26-year-old spoke out for the first time on the matter, acknowledging the rift between himself and his family in an Instagram post.

In a statement on the social media site, he claimed his parents were controlling stories about his family in the press and trying to "sabotage" his relationship with his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham.

He said: “I have been silent for years and tried my best to keep these matters private.

“Unfortunately, my parents and their team are constantly going to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak up for myself and tell the truth about some of the lies that have been printed.

“I do not want to reconcile with my family. I am not being controlled by anyone, I am standing up for myself for the first time in my life.

“My entire life, my parents have controlled the narrative about our family in the press. Fabricated social media posts, staged family events, and fake relationships have been part of the life I was born into.

“Recently, I have witnessed firsthand the lengths they will go to spread countless lies in the media to maintain their facade, mostly at the expense of innocent people. But I believe the truth always comes out.”

Nicola, who is the daughter of American billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz and former model Claudia Heffner Peltz, married Brooklyn in 2022.

He is the eldest son of the former England footballer and his fashion designer wife. The couple also have sons Cruz and Romeo and daughter Harper. Brooklyn continued: “My parents have been constantly trying to sabotage my relationship with my wife since before we were married, and it hasn’t stopped.

“My mother refused to make Nicola’s dress at the last minute, even though she was so excited to wear a dress designed by her, forcing her to find a new dress at the last minute.

“Weeks before our wedding day, my parents repeatedly pressured me and tried to bribe me into giving up my name rights, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children.

“They insisted I sign before my wedding date because that’s when the terms of the deal would begin. My refusal affected my salary, and they haven’t treated me the same since.

“During the wedding planning, my mother even called me ‘evil’ because Nicola and I decided to include our grandmothers, Sandra and Nicola’s grandmother, at our table, as both of their husbands had passed away. Our parents had their own tables right next to ours.”

The statement continued: “Since I started speaking up for myself against my family, I have faced constant attacks from my parents, both privately and publicly, which have been leaked to the press at their behest.

“My brothers were also sent to attack me on social media before suddenly blocking me last summer.”

Brooklyn further claimed that his mother “hijacked” his first dance with Nicola and danced “inappropriately” with him in front of the guests, saying he had never felt so “uncomfortable or humiliated” in his entire life.

He also alleged that his family has “insulted” his wife and that she was not invited to his father’s 50th birthday party.

Brooklyn added: “My family values public image and endorsements above everything else. Brand Beckham comes first.” Family ‘love’ is measured by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything and pose for family photos, even if it’s at the expense of our professional responsibilities.

“This narrative that my wife controls me is completely false. Most of my life has been controlled by my parents.

“I grew up with a lot of anxiety. For the first time in my life, since moving away from my family, that anxiety has gone away. I wake up every morning grateful for the life I’ve chosen and I have peace and relief.

“My wife and I don’t want a life built on image, press, or manipulation. We just want peace, privacy, and happiness for ourselves and our future family.”

Brooklyn has previously dabbled in photography and cooking, launching a book of photographs called ‘What I See’ in 2017 and a hot sauce brand called Cloud23 in 2024. He has also posted videos of himself cooking on social media.
