The crash happened just after 8 a.m. on Sprott Street near Kensington Avenue, a busy route during the morning commute, says Cpl. Laura Hirst with Burnaby RCMP.

Despite emergency crews’ life-saving efforts, the cyclist died at the scene. No one else was hurt.

Hirst said weather and road conditions may have played a role, but the cause has not been confirmed.

Mounties say the truck driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating and impairment has been ruled out as a contributing factor.

Hirst said the crash caused significant delays as police closed the area and diverted vehicles during the morning rush.

Anyone with footage or information is asked to contact Burnaby RCMP.
