An Australian man who jumped over a barricade and grabbed Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been deported and banned from Singapore.

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) told local media that Johnson Wayne, 26, was sentenced to nine days in jail for causing a public nuisance and is now "barred from re-entering Singapore."

Wayne pushed photographers and attacked the actress and singer, who was attending the Asian premiere of Wicked: For Good on November 13. Co-star Cynthia Erivo rescued him from Grande.

Wayne has a history of disrupting concerts and celebrity events, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in June this year.

The incident sparked outrage in Singapore, with many accusing him of re-traumatizing Grande.

The pop star has admitted to suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder following a suicide bomb attack at her Manchester concert in May 2017, which killed 22 people and injured hundreds.

According to Singapore media, during Wayne's trial, the court learned that he had tried to enter the film premiere twice.

He then made a second attempt to jump over barricades. Security staff stopped him and knocked him down.

Wayne later posted a video thanking Grande for letting him onto the carpet and saying he was "free."

Police arrested him the next day and charged him with public nuisance, to which Wayne pleaded guilty.

Channel News Asia quoted District Judge Christopher Goh as saying Wayne was "trying to get attention," and that he was wrong to think he would face no consequences.

Grande has not commented on the matter.

Speaking about the incident, Erivo said she "just wanted to make sure my friend was safe."

She added, "I'm sure he didn't mean to harm us, but there's no telling what happens, and I wanted to make sure he was okay. That was my first instinct."
