Police Scotland has described the behavior of some supporters as "shameful" and said that arrests have been made following clashes at the end of the Scottish Cup quarter-final between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox.

Chief Superintendent Kate Stephen said: "The behavior of a number of supporters during the Scottish Cup quarter-final between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox today was disgraceful. It should be condemned by all involved in football and society."

Supporters from both the home and away teams gathered on the Ibrox pitch after the game.

"Several arrests have already been made, and Police Scotland will now conduct a thorough investigation in conjunction with both clubs and the Scottish Football Association [SFA] following incidents on the pitch after the match."
"Officers and stewards faced a sustained display of hostility and violence, with many individuals armed with objects clearly intended to cause harm. Officers and members of the public were injured in this disastrous display, and I would like to thank all the officers and staff on duty.

“The investigation will also include the actions of some supporters who entered the Broomloan Road Stand without tickets before the match began, causing delays in the security operation and the closure of the turnstiles for a period of time.

“I would also urge anyone with information about those who caused disturbances before, during, or after the match to contact Police Scotland on 101.”

Celtic won the match 4-2 on penalties after the match ended in a goalless draw, and dozens of fans from the away end poured onto the pitch following the visitors' winning spot-kick. This led to an attack by hundreds of Rangers supporters, and police and stewards erected barriers on the pitch.

7,500 away fans were present at Ibrox for the game, and Celtic supporters were given the full allotment of the Broomloan Road Stand for the first time since 2018, when it was first reduced to fewer than 1,000 tickets.
