In the fourth quarter, Daniels was dragged to the ground and extended his non-throwing arm to avoid falling, which then buckled behind him, forcing the quarterback off the field with 7:29 remaining.

His injury capped a disastrous evening for the Commanders, who gave up five touchdowns and 418 yards, leading to a stunning victory by the Seahawks.

What's worse is that Daniels' injury is his third – and perhaps most serious – injury of the season and came in his first game back from a hamstring injury. Daniels had also missed two games earlier this season due to a knee problem

Commanders coach Dan Quinn, speaking to the media after the game, stated that Daniels had injured his elbow, but he couldn't explain why the quarterback remained on the field despite the scoreline remaining unchanged in the fourth quarter.

"Obviously, looking back, it doesn't seem like an injury could have occurred," Quinn said. "Obviously, we're more careful in areas where we can run and pass the ball and not read the ball, but just seeing the end result – obviously, I'm disappointed."

The Commanders fell behind early on Sunday and trailed 31-7 at halftime, with Daniels rushing for 51 yards on 10 carries.

"I think that's his nature. He wants to be aggressive and make plays," Quinn said. "He's got confidence in the other players. I do know that. So it's not like, 'I have to do more, I have to do things that are outside of playing in that way.' We also have to have everybody. Injuries happen and you hate it."

Last season as a rookie, Daniels led Washington to the NFC Championship Game—its best season since 1991. Now, the Commanders are 3-6 after four consecutive losses.
