K-Pop Demon Hunters*—a blockbuster Netflix film centering on supernatural K-pop stars—has won Oscars for both 'Best Animated Feature Film' and 'Best Original Song.'
Since its release last year, the film has captivated audiences of all ages around the globe, and its empowering theme song, "Golden," has dominated music charts worldwide.
The voices behind the film's girl group—known as "Huntr/x"—Ejae, Rei Ami, and Audrey Nuna, performed "Golden" amidst a sea of glowing light sticks, a signature hallmark of K-pop concerts.
While accepting the 'Best Song' trophy at the Oscars, Ejae—with teary eyes—remarked, "Growing up, people used to make fun of me for liking K-pop. But now, everyone is singing our song—every single Korean lyric; I am so incredibly proud."
The film's directors, Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, along with producer Michelle LM Wong, accepted the award for 'Best Animated Feature Film.'
Kang, a first-time Oscar nominee, stated that this victory "belongs to Korea and to all Korean people living around the world."
She further added, "And to those of you who look like me: I apologize that we had to wait so long to see ourselves represented in a film like this. But now that this film is here, it means that future generations will no longer have to yearn for movies like this." *Kpop Demon Hunters* tells the story of a K-pop girl group that uses the power of their voices to battle demons—a roster that includes a 'boy band' from the Underworld whose members ensnare human souls with their mesmerizing vocals.

Several songs by the fictional K-pop stars featured on the film's soundtrack have become hits; most notably, 'Golden' and the track 'Soda Pop' by their adversaries, the boy band 'Saja Boys.'
Ejae, Rei Ami, and Audrey Nuna walked the red carpet clad in gold-colored gowns, paying tribute to their hit song.
The Oscar is the latest addition to the film's extensive list of accolades; prior to this, the movie had already secured Golden Globe awards for 'Best Animated Feature' and 'Best Original Song.'
Last month, the song 'Golden' made history by becoming the very first K-pop track to win a Grammy Award.
Netflix has officially announced a sequel to *Kpop Demon Hunters*, although a release date has not yet been set.
