According to the Associated Press, Senator Abaka Fitz-Henley, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, told a local radio station that officials have confirmed the first death in Jamaica since Melissa's landfall, and that the death was caused by a tree falling on an infant.
Melissa has now been blamed for at least four deaths in Jamaica, three of which occurred during storm preparations.
