A model, producer, and actress who rose to fame in the 1980s fashion world before appearing in the US TV drama Dallas has died at the age of 62.
Annabel Schofield died of cancer on February 28 in Los Angeles, where she had lived for many years.
Born in Llanelli in 1963, Schofield underwent her first surgery for the disease in 2023 and resumed chemotherapy in November 2025 after discovering it had spread to her brain. In recent months, she had spoken publicly about her diagnosis and sought help with treatment costs.
At 16, she left Wales to pursue a modeling career in London, where she worked with major fashion houses such as Versace and Yves Saint Laurent.
She became famous worldwide for her role in a Bugle Boy jeans commercial in the late 1980s and later worked as a film and TV producer. She also wrote a semi-autobiographical novel.
Schofield was the daughter of movie producer John D. Schofield, whose credits include As Good as It Gets and Jerry Maguire.
Melissa Richardson, owner of Take Two, the London modeling agency to which Schofield was signed, said she was a favorite of photographer David Bailey and appeared in "countless shoots" for Italian Vogue.
"She was the forerunner of Take Two—without her, we never would have been able to do what we did," Richardson told The Hollywood Reporter.
"We loved her because she was funny, genuine, beautiful, and down-to-earth. She never changed from the sweet 17-year-old Welsh girl I first met.
"She was completely loyal, caring, and above all, a stunning beauty. She knew her job. She was the best."
Schofield gained international recognition in the late 1980s with an ad for Bugle Boy jeans, in which she drives a black Ferrari through the desert and then stops next to a man standing on the side of the road.
Rolling down the passenger-side window, she said: "Excuse me. "Are those the Bugle Boy jeans you're wearing?"
After she said yes, he said "Thank you" and then quickly left, leaving her there.

At the peak of her modeling career, Schofield moved to Los Angeles.
She appeared in the low-budget film "Bloodtide" in 1982, after which she was cast in the long-running American television series "Dallas," which was then in its 11th season.
Schofield played Laurel Ellis, a friend of Clayton Farlow, whom the show's main character, J.R. Ewing, blackmails into having sex with him to save her friend.
More roles followed, including a performance opposite Charlton Heston in the 1990 science fiction thriller "Solar Crisis."
Later in her career, Schofield moved behind the camera and in 2010 started Bella Bene Productions in Burbank, California.
She runs a blog called "The Cherry Alignment," which He has written about his experiences in the 1980s. Before releasing a semi-autobiographical novel of the same name in 2013, Schofield wrote about U.K. culture and fashion.
Schofield posted about his cancer diagnosis on Instagram, and after having to stop working due to his illness, sought help through a GoFundMe page, which raised nearly $35,000 (£26,100) in donations.
After resuming chemotherapy in November, he underwent surgery again in January but died the following month.
