Dyche Under Fire: ‘Up to Owner to Make Change’ Sparks Debate
Nottingham Forest's replacement of head coach Sean Dyche is facing intense scrutiny following a goalless draw at home to Wolves.

Pressure on Dyche has been mounting following the team's poor performance in losing 3-1 to Leeds at the City Ground on Friday night.

Wednesday's scoreless draw with bottom-placed Wolves has further increased internal scrutiny of Dyche's job.

Some segments of the fanbase are now beginning to shift, with some citing the booing of home supporters following Wolves' shutout.

Similarly, there is a feeling among Forest officials that Dyche's appointment has not had the impact they had hoped for.

Dyche said, "The owner has been right with me, without a doubt."
"If someone wants to make changes in football now, that's their decision. We've all seen that."

Dyche was appointed Forest manager on October 21, but the club remains in danger of relegation, with just three points separating them from West Ham, the bottom three teams in the table.
Forest do not have a match until their Europa League play-off clash with Fenerbahçe on Thursday, February 19.

If Forest decide to remove 54-year-old Dyche, they will have plenty of time to identify and appoint a new head coach.

If Dyche leaves and a permanent replacement is appointed, it will be the first time a Premier League team has had four permanent managers in a single season.

Forest began the campaign with Nuno Espírito Santo, before he was sacked in early September and replaced by Ange Postecoglou.

"I know the atmosphere has changed a lot recently."
Dyche is well aware of how quickly managers in the Premier League come under pressure.

Earlier on Wednesday, Tottenham boss Thomas Frank was fired after eight months in charge of Spurs, and Dyche was asked about his thoughts on the matter before the Wolves game.

"Unfortunately, that's the way it is," Dyche said.

"The demand is very high. Social media is playing its part now. There's a lot of anger and resentment - we have to live with that. That's what we managers have to do."
Just hours later, Dyche faced similar scrutiny after a goalless draw, in which Forest made a remarkable 35 attempts without scoring.

This is the most goals conceded by a team in a Premier League match since Manchester United conceded 38 goals in a 0-0 draw with Burnley in October 2016.

Forest somehow failed to capitalize on a blazing six-on-one attack, which culminated in a 12-yard goal by newly signed Lorenzo Lucca, a finish that infuriated owner Evangelos Marinakis in the stands.

The fans shared that disappointment, and the full-time whistle was booed, making Dyche well aware that this was a game Forest had to win.

"People can demand changes, and then it's always a matter of whether they change or not," Dyche continued. "If the owner wants to make a change, that's up to him, and that's just the way football is now; that's the reality of it."
"I think the noise here has changed a lot in the last few games."

"They would be crazy to fire him."
Dyche certainly arrived at Forest under difficult circumstances, but after a string of poor results under Postecoglou, he took over the team, winning seven of his first 12 games.

If results are taken into account since Dyche's arrival, Forest are in the middle of the table, six points above Tottenham, who are third from bottom.

Dyche said, "That's the only thing that worries me because it's not a bad period."

"But football is still the modern way. The demands are very high. It's changed a lot in the last two years, probably."

"Demands are increasing. Expectations are rising immediately."
Former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer believes Dyche should be given more time.

He said on Match of the Day, "I think, given his knowledge and experience in the Premier League, I would stick with Sean Dyche without a doubt."

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy agreed.
"I think you couldn't ask for a better manager for this bottom battle," he said.

"He's been there, he's done it, he keeps his cool. I think they'd be crazy to get rid of him, but that doesn't mean it won't happen."

"The other thing I think for Marinakis is that if he wasn't there they wouldn't be in the Premier League and they wouldn't be in Europe, so maybe he has the right to do what he wants, but I don't think you can bring in a manager as capable as him in this fight."

Former Everton defender Phil Jagielka said: "Sean Dyche came in to do one job and that job was to make sure they stayed out of the relegation zone. He picked up some points. It wasn't too different from the job he had to do at Everton.
