Carol joined the BBC in 1998 and for over 25 years has been a familiar and much-loved figure across BBC programmes, particularly on BBC Breakfast, where she has delivered the weather forecast to millions of viewers every morning with warmth and professionalism.
 
Carol has been a trusted guide to the nation’s weather, clearly explaining daily forecasts for all types of weather and playing a key role in major events, including reporting on sunshine and showers at Wimbledon.
 
Carol Kirkwood says: “It’s been a tremendous privilege to be the nation’s weather presenter every day. I’ve never taken my job for granted and I’ve loved every minute of it! From the early starts to all the different forecasts, I’ve shared it all with my wonderful colleagues at BBC Breakfast, BBC Weather and across all BBC programmes. I want to thank them for their support and friendship, which means so much to me.

Carol Kirkwood trained in meteorology at The Weather Channel, the Met Office and the BBC before joining the BBC Weather Centre in April 1998. She began broadcasting on the BBC News channel and soon started working across BBC One and all other BBC outlets that feature weather forecasts. Since 2010, she has been the main weather presenter on BBC Breakfast.
 
Her regular outdoor broadcasts include the Chelsea Flower Show, Royal Ascot, and royal events. She has also provided forecasts for major sporting events such as Wimbledon and leading UK golf tournaments.
 
Carol has been honoured numerous times by the Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC), where she has repeatedly been named Best TV Weather Presenter. Beyond weather forecasting, her work includes reporting for The One Show, where she has done everything from tandem parachute jumps with the Red Devils to hang-gliding flights. In 2015, she participated in Strictly Come Dancing and reached the eighth week with her professional partner Pasha Kovalev.
