According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, five people were killed and 21 others injured—including a 14-year-old girl—in a Russian drone attack on a market in southern Ukraine.
The attack took place in the city of Nikopol at 09:50 AM (06:50 GMT). The city is situated across the Dnipro River from territory that Russia has occupied since its full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
This attack follows a day of widespread drone and missile strikes across Ukraine on Friday, in which at least 15 civilians were killed.
Meanwhile, Russia reported that at least one person was killed and four others seriously injured in a drone and missile attack launched by Ukraine overnight against the southern Russian city of Taganrog.
The Ukrainian city of Nikopol is frequently subjected to attacks, and approximately half of the city's 100,000 residents had long since fled in search of safety.

However, these drones struck in the middle of Saturday morning—at a crowded location—resulting in a high number of casualties.
Prosecutors stated that two people were injured in a second attack at the same site, adding that these incidents are being investigated as "war crimes."
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia launched another wave of approximately 300 drones at Ukraine overnight, and casualties have also been reported in the northeastern city of Kharkiv and the northern Sumy region.
Meanwhile, Moscow stated that it had shot down 85 Ukrainian drones.
Rostov regional governor Yuri Slyusar reported that the attack in Taganrog sparked a fire at the premises of a logistics company within the city.
An official from Ukraine's Ministry of Defense attributed the casualties to "Russian air defense operations." Kyiv also reported attacks on two factories, which it stated were utilized by the Russian military-industrial complex.

A defense official reported that a "large-scale attack" was carried out against a plant located in Tolyatti. This facility produces synthetic rubber and petrochemical raw materials.
Subsequently, Ukraine's Security Service reported that production has halted at the Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant—located in the Russian-occupied territory of Ukraine's Luhansk region—due to drone strikes.
The agency stated that as a result of this attack—the second such incident within a month—the factory's blast furnaces, production units, and other key components sustained damage.
President Volodymyr Zelensky has proposed a ceasefire to Russia for the Easter holidays. However, thus far, Moscow has ignored the proposal.
Large-scale daytime attacks by Russia—which were previously infrequent—are now on the rise.
