Jeep’s Trail-Ready EV Arrives: Introducing the 2026 Recon
Electric vehicles are making their entry in almost every segment of cars today. What started with small city hatchbacks and compact sedans has now spread across the entire automotive landscape
The 2026 Recon shows how far the transformation has come. Jeep has revealed its latest off-road-ready SUV. The Jeep Recon was announced for 2022, and now Jeep has finally revealed details about the Recon, and it will launch first in the Moab trim. It's not Jeep's first EV, but it combines off-road DNA with electric power. Here's everything you need to know about the 2026 Jeep Recon.
Design
The Jeep Recon features a boxy, upright design inspired by Jeep's traditional design language. It features Jeep's signature 7-slot grille at the front, paired with modern LED lighting. The flat hood and upright stance further accentuate the Recon's traditional Jeep geometry. Removable doors and a removable roof enhance the open-air layout, following the legacy of Jeep's convertible-style 4x4s. The Recon also features large wheel arches, high ground clearance, and large 18-inch all-terrain tires, which together reflect its trail-oriented purpose. At the rear, a practical tailgate design and minimalist lighting create a look that blends classic Jeep geometry. Off-road specifications include a 34-degree approach angle, a 34.5-degree departure angle, and a 23.5-degree breakover angle.
Motor, Battery, and Performance
The Jeep Recon features a 100.5 kWh battery paired with dual motors that produce 659 bhp and 840 Nm of torque. Jeep claims the Recon can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. The rear motor features a 15:1 final drive ratio with an electronic locking differential. Jeep also claims that upcoming trims will offer a driving range of up to 450 km on a single charge.
Interior and Features
The Jeep Recon's interior is built on functionality and technology, combining robustness with a modern, modular layout. We don't yet have full details of the Recon's interior tech suite, but photos reveal that the Recon's interior is largely covered in screens. It features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, as well as a 14.5-inch central touchscreen that runs the Uconnect 5 infotainment system, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The two-tier center console features a wireless charger at the top and a pass-through compartment for a tablet or bag at the bottom. Jeep has integrated five Selec-Terrain driving modes to adjust traction, throttle response, and regenerative braking: Auto, Snow, Sand, Mud, and Rock, which can be accessed from a dedicated control panel. There's also a low-speed Selec-Speed Control to help maintain a consistent speed on steep or technical terrain. Additionally, the Jeep Recon features low-speed Selec-Speed Control for difficult climbs and descents. When Selec-Speed Control is engaged, it maintains a set speed, allowing the driver to focus on steering.
Trims and Pricing
Production of the 2026 Jeep Recon will begin early next year, with initial launches in the U.S. and Canada, followed by a global rollout in Q4 2026. The Moab trim will be available exclusively in the U.S. and Canada. Jeep has not yet announced a launch in India. Jeep has revealed the price of its Moab trim, which is $66,995 (₹59,28,025).
