Toronto police said a man has been charged after a car plowed into a Salvation Army store in Toronto early Sunday morning.

Toronto police said in an emailed statement that officers responded to the store near Overlea Boulevard and Thorncliffe Park Drive at approximately 2:28 a.m. Sunday.

At the scene, a dark blue SUV crashed directly into the store's window, leaving racks of clothing, overturned shelves filled with tools, and shattered glass.

Police said the driver remained at the scene and was taken to the hospital by paramedics with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the driver, who is approximately 30 years old, faces charges for several offenses under the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
