According to social media reports, US President Donald Trump hosted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a lavish New Year's Eve party at his opulent Mar-a-Lago resort on Wednesday.
Netanyahu, who arrived at the president's Palm Beach residence on Monday, was seen with Trump, both wearing tuxedos, in a social media post by conservative influencer Michael Solakiewicz on Wednesday night.
Trump had joked during meetings on Monday that the Israeli leader might attend the party to discuss the fragile ceasefire in Gaza and other regional geopolitical concerns in the Middle East.
The party's guest list included staunch Trump supporters Rudy Giuliani and Emirati billionaire Hussain Sajwani, as well as his sons Eric and Don Jr., and top members of his administration, including Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino.
The Gaza ceasefire in October is one of the key achievements of Trump's first year back in office, but some White House officials fear that Netanyahu is slowing down the process.
This week, Trump downplayed reports of tension with Netanyahu over the second phase of the ceasefire, saying that Israel had "fulfilled" its commitments and that the responsibility now lay with the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
Siding with the Israeli prime minister, Trump said he had "no concerns about anything Israel is doing."
This week's talks marked the fifth such meeting in the United States since Trump returned to power this year.
