Peter Greene, known for playing villains and criminals, including Zed in "Pulp Fiction," died at his home in New York City on Friday, his manager confirmed. He was 60 years old.

Manager Greg Edwards confirmed that Greene was found dead in his Lower East Side apartment. He did not disclose the cause of death.
He played Zed, a sadistic rapist security guard, in Quentin Tarantino's 1994 film "Pulp Fiction," and was also known for his role as the villain Dorian in the 1994 Jim Carrey film "The Mask."

"No one could play a bad guy better than Peter. But he also had a softer side that most people never saw, and he had a heart as big as gold," Edwards said in a phone interview.

Edwards said he was told that music had been playing in the apartment for over 24 hours, and that's why the wellness check was conducted. Edwards said he spoke with Green earlier this week.

In addition to his supporting role, Green played the lead role in the 1993 film "Clean, Shaven," in which he played a man suffering from schizophrenia who is suspected of murder and who occasionally self-harms.

The New York Times review said Green's performance "transformed his role into a deeply troubled, unstable character, a man who didn't even need to cut himself to hold the audience's attention."

As a character actor, Green also appeared in films such as "The Usual Suspects" and "Training Day."

In "The Usual Suspects," Green played Redfoot, who tells the crime crew about a chance to rob a jeweler, who later dies during the robbery.

In "Training Day," Green played a detective named Jeff, who is shot by Alonzo Harris, played by Denzel Washington, when the corrupt gang tries to fabricate a story to cover up the cold-blooded murder of a former narcotics officer.

After Harris kills the former narcotics officer in his home, Green, as a detective, agrees to take the bullet in his bullet-proof vest to make it appear as if the police were shot first. Before Washington shoots Harris twice, Green delivers a memorable line, "Kiss me, baby."

Green was born on October 8, 1965, in Montclair, New Jersey. According to his biography on the IMDB website, he began acting at the age of 20 while living in New York City.
Edwards said Greene has a sister and a brother in his family.
