Sainsbury's has officially opened a major new flagship supermarket in Wynyard, creating over 110 jobs.

Sainsbury’s Opens Huge UK Store, 110 Jobs Created

There's also a brand-new Argos branch inside Sainsbury's, offering customers access to thousands of products, including Habitat and Too clothing ranges, and fast click and collect. The existing Argos store in Billingham's Queensway Shopping Centre will continue to operate alongside the new site.

The first series of stores have now opened at the new Wynyard Retail and Trade Park. This supermarket joins other retailers already operating at the park, including Starbucks, Screwfix, and JT Dove, while Howdens is preparing to open later this month.

The Vineyard Retail Park is part of the wider Vineyard Business Park development, which supports the Tees Valley Strategic Economic Plan, which aims to promote job creation and local investment.

The new supermarket will work closely with Sainsbury's community programs, including the retailer's "Nourish the Nation" campaign with Comic Relief, which helps improve access to nutritious food and assist families facing food insecurity.

Sainsbury's Vineyard Store Manager, Peter Conwell, said: "I'm delighted to be leading the fantastic new team at our Vineyard supermarket, where we will join Sainsbury's in its mission to make good food enjoyable, accessible, and affordable for everyone, every day.

"We're currently working hard to complete all preparations for opening day, and after that, we look forward to playing an integral role in the local community for years to come."

The supermarket has approximately 300 customer parking spaces, including dedicated Blue Badge and parent and child parking spaces.

Patrick Dunn, Sainsbury's Chief Property and Procurement Officer and Managing Director of SmartCharge, also said: "Our mission is to ensure that great food is accessible to everyone, everywhere.

"This year, through our biggest investment in store expansion in over a decade, we're bringing more choice, convenience and quality to more communities across the UK.

"We're incredibly excited to open our newest Sainsbury's supermarket in Wynyard in time for Christmas and we're now putting the finishing touches on the move – we can't wait to welcome everyone into the store on Thursday."
