Swedish police say three people were killed and three others injured when a bus collided with a bus stop in central Stockholm.
The circumstances of the accident, which occurred on Friday on Valhallavägen Street in the Swedish capital, remain unclear.
Police said in a statement that the bus driver has been arrested and charged with causing death and bodily harm.
However, they added that "there is currently no indication that the accident was intentional."
Authorities are trying to identify the victims. It is unclear whether there were any passengers on board.
The incident occurred near the Royal Institute of Technology University.
Images from the scene show rescuers helping people trapped under the double-decker bus.
An eyewitness, who owns a shop across the street, told SVT that the bus collided with a pillar in front of the bus shelter. He said that many people ran into the shop crying.
One woman reported that the bus "crushed the entire bus stop queue."
She said people were screaming and trying to help the injured, while the dead lay on the ground.
She said, "There must have been more people under the bus."
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said his thoughts were with the victims and their families.
He posted on X, "Those who may have been going home to spend a quiet evening with their families, friends, or at home. We don't yet know the cause, but at this time my thoughts are primarily with those affected and their loved ones."
