West End debut for Stranger Things actress
Stranger Things actress Sadie Sink will make her West End debut in a new production of Romeo and Juliet.
British actor Noah Jupe, best known for his role in the horror series "A Quiet Place," will play Juliet's Romeo.
As first reported by American outlet Deadline, they will play these unhappy lovers on stage at London's Harold Pinter Theatre from March 2026.
Award-winning writer and director Robert Icke, who has previously adapted George Orwell's "1984" and Chekhov's "Uncle Vanya," will direct the project.
23-year-old American actress Sadie rose to fame after playing Max Mayfield in the second series of Stranger Things.
She grew up a "Broadway kid" and made her stage debut at the age of 10, playing the lead role in Annie in New York's famous theater district.
But she'd "always dreamed" of doing a West End show, she said.
"To get to do that in one of Shakespeare's most famous plays under Rob's direction with Noah will be such an exciting challenge," she added.
"London theatre has this incredible energy, and I can't wait to be a part of it."
The actress appeared to be settling into London life after joining New Zealand singer Lorde on stage at The O2 over the weekend.
With Romeo and Juliet, Sadie will be returning to London theater for the first time, but she has returned to her roots in America.
Last year, she was nominated for a prestigious Tony Award for her leading role in Kimberly Bellflower's film John Proctor Is the Villain.
She also appeared in the 2022 Oscar-winning film The Whale and this year's post-apocalyptic drama O'Dessa.
Stage and Screen Star
Sadie's 20-year-old co-star in Romeo and Juliet, Noah, known for his roles in the American drama Honey Boy and the TV series The Night Manager, will be performing on stage for the first time.
"It seems like such a challenging and rewarding experience for an actor," he said.
"So I was very excited to hear about this project.
"The combination of Romeo, Rob and Sadie is an opportunity you simply cannot turn down."
Sadie will also star in Chloé Zhao's upcoming film Hamnet, playing the young Hamlet alongside Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley.
Stranger Things, which also stars Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, and Finn Wolfhard, has become one of Netflix's biggest hits since its debut in 2016.
The group is preparing to say goodbye to the show when its highly anticipated final series releases later this year.
Sadie will also join the Marvel Cinematic Universe next year, appearing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
