Pop star Taylor Swift has asked the US government to block a bedding company's attempt to trademark the phrase "Swift Home," arguing that it could mislead customers into believing she endorses their products.

Her legal team argued that the way Cathay Home styles the word "Swift" in its branding closely resembles the singer's trademarked cursive signature.

Cathay Home, a New York-based company, states on its website that it sells products through major retailers and that it applied for the "Swift Home" trademark for its bedding items.

Swift, represented by TAS Rights Management LLC, appealed Cathay Home's application in a document released to the US Patent and Trademark Office on Wednesday.

The filing states that "Swift Home" creates a "false association" with the singer, which could lead Cathay Home customers to believe the pop star has somehow endorsed its products.

Her legal team stated that this was done with the intention of using Swift's "goodwill and recognition" for the company's brand.

The documents state that Swift holds federal trademarks that protect the use of her name and signature on goods, including bedding, clothing, and products related to her music.

Swift has filed more than 300 trademarks in the US and other jurisdictions, protecting her name, initials, album titles, and some lyrics.

The singer-songwriter's net worth is estimated to exceed $1 billion (£730m), boosted by her recent record-breaking live shows around the world.
