A Met Office warning is in effect for much of South Wales and will remain in effect until Monday. The weather agency has warned of flooding, power outages, and floodwaters in many areas, which could lead to power outages for several days.

Forecasters predict that the highest elevations in Wales' amber warning zone could receive up to 120mm of rain, with rainfall ranging from 20mm to 40mm and up to 80mm in mountainous areas.

A spokesperson for the British Geological Survey said records show landslides have already occurred in Wales before Monday's rain.

Richard Preece, duty tactical manager for Natural Resources Wales (NRW), said: "We are asking people to be alert for the possibility of flooding. Heavy rain is forecast from Sunday night to Monday morning, particularly in parts of South Wales.

"Some rivers are already overflowing and the ground is soaked, so we expect numerous flood alerts and warnings to be issued.

"We're urging people to be vigilant and prepare now for potential flooding. We also want to remind people to stay away from swollen river banks and not drive or walk through floodwater, as you never know what lies beneath."

You can check if your area is at risk of flooding and sign up for its free flood warning service on the Natural Resources Wales website.

A less severe yellow warning for rain has been issued for parts of southwest and northwest England, as well as central and north Wales, from midnight Monday to 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Another yellow warning has been added for southwest Scotland from midnight Monday to 9 p.m. Monday.

A less severe yellow warning for North Wales and the southwest and northwest of England will also be in effect from 3 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, December 2. The Met Office said this could cause travel disruption. The Met Office said Monday could be a "major event for many," and the impact will likely be greater because the ground is already saturated.
