Man arrested in online fraud case
A man has been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into a criminal organization involved in an online fraud involving €804,798.
The arrest follows a report by an Irish financial institution in January 2024 regarding a complex fraud involving its online platform.
This involved the use of fake identity documents to obtain payment cards, which were then used for high-value purchases at major retail stores, ATM withdrawals, and transactions abroad.
Gardaí searched several homes in west Dublin, seizing a large quantity of items of evidentiary value.
A 40-year-old man was arrested under Section 71A of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 (conducting a criminal organization).
He is currently being held at a Garda station in County Dublin.
Gardaí say the investigation is ongoing.
