Kia has officially begun the countdown to its next-gen Seltos by releasing the first set of teaser images. And if first impressions are anything to go by, the new design direction suggests that Kia wants this SUV to look more modern and mature.
A Bold New Face
The front now features a wider Tiger Face grille with nice chrome detailing. Sharp vertical LED DRLs and C-shaped lighting make the signature styling more upright and confident. The headlight modules have also been shifted outward towards the edges for a more square look. A chunky silver skid plate completes the look.
A Little Theatrical Lights
The teasers confirm animated LED welcome lighting. The Kia badge is right above the grille, and the camera angle also reveals a panoramic sunroof. It seems that Kia wants the new Seltos to feel a bit more premium even before it's unlocked.
The side profile has become cleaner and sleeker.
Retractable door handles make their debut, and the pillars are now blacked out to create a floating roof effect. The window line has a distinct curve near the rear quarter glass, giving it an hourglass-shaped flow. New alloy wheels and subtle chrome accents complete the side view without appearing overly flashy.
The rear features a full-width signature.
At the rear, a new LED light bar extends across the tailgate. This lighting treatment resembles the one seen on the Carens Clavis. The spoiler has been slimmed down, and there's another silver skid plate that resembles the front.
Launch Timeline and Expected Location
Following its global reveal on December 10 in Korea, the new Seltos is expected to arrive in India in 2026, possibly in the first half of the year. The current model's on-road price ranges between ₹12.57 lakh and ₹23.43 lakh, and the next-gen version is expected to remain in the same range.
Engine and Features
Kia hasn't yet revealed mechanical details, but the current model comes with petrol and diesel engines with power ranging from 113bhp to 158bhp and torque ranging from 144Nm to 250Nm. Expect it to feature some familiar features and refinements, including connected tech, ventilation, and ADAS, as these are now considered essential in this segment.
Segment Competition
Upon launch, the new Seltos will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Tata Sierra, Maruti Suzuki Victoris and Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyride, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigu, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, and the upcoming Renault Duster and Nissan Tecton.
A familiar name is entering a new era
The teaser reveals that the next-gen Seltos has undergone a transformation in styling and appearance. Full details will reveal details about tech packaging, engines, and positioning, but for now, the visuals suggest Kia has gone beyond a regular facelift. The competition in this segment is only getting tougher. The Seltos looks ready for another round.
