Following pop star Taylor Swift's appeal to the US Patent Office, a firm bidding to trademark the "Swift Home" brand for a line of bedding products withdrew its application over the weekend.
A representative for Cathay Home, a company that sells home furnishings through major retailers, said the decision was made because the disputed mark was "not essential to their business."
Swift's team issued a notice to the US government on February 11 requesting the firm's bid be halted.
The team argued that the singer's trademark design and the company's mark were similar, and customers could be misled into thinking Swift endorsed the products.

Cathay Home's lawyer, Ting Geng of Geng & Associates, said in a statement that the trademark application was withdrawn after considering the circumstances.
"Such decisions are often practical and commercially prudent," he said. The lawyer further stated that the firm had previously reached a "co-existing agreement" with Singer's team regarding another registered "Swift Home" mark.
Cathay Home, which has offices in North America and China, has applied for the "Swift Home" trademark for its bedding products until the end of 2025.
In an appeal filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office last week, Swift's team stated that the way Cathay Home styles the word "Swift" in its branding closely resembles Singer's trademarked cursive mark.

Swift's team argued that the mark creates a "false association" with Singer and was intended to exploit her "goodwill and recognition" for the firm's brand.
The documents state that Swift holds federal trademarks that protect the use of her name and design on a variety of products, including bedding, clothing, and music-related products.
Swift has filed over 300 trademarks in the US and other territories, protecting her name, initials, album titles, and lyrics to some songs.
The artist's net worth is estimated to exceed $1 billion (£730m), boosted by her recent record-breaking live shows around the world.
