Panic has spread following the injury to T.J. Watt, who recently underwent surgery to repair a partially collapsed lung after a dry needling incident, but an insider has offered a glimmer of hope for the Pittsburgh Steelers during these challenging times.
Following Watt's surgery, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport provided a crucial update on the veteran Steeler, including whether Watt is expected to return during the 2025 regular season.
"My understanding is that [Watt] is expected to play again this season," Rapoport said. "We've heard from Mike Tomlin and some other Steelers players who have obviously sent their best wishes to T.J. Watt. You hope he's back as soon as possible."
With Watt sidelined in Week 15, Alex Highsmith and Nick Herbig will be the Steelers' starting edge rusher duo, and they could see even more starting opportunities together while the veteran defender recovers from his lung surgery.
