Trump to Launch Epstein Inquiry Tied to Clinton, Banks
President Trump says he will order an investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s connections with major banks and prominent Democrats, including Bill Clinton.
Trump said on social media that he would ask Attorney General Pam Bondi and the FBI to investigate Epstein's "involvement and relationships" with Clinton and others to determine "what was going on between him and them."
Interest in Epstein's connections was renewed this week when US lawmakers released more than 20,000 pages of documents from his estate, some of which mention Trump.
Clinton has denied any knowledge of Epstein's crimes.
Trump said that in addition to Clinton, he has asked the Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate JPMorgan and Chase banks, former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, and LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, a major Democratic donor.
"Epstein was a Democrat, and he is the Democrat's problem, not the Republican's problem!" he wrote on social media.
"They all know about him, don't waste your time with Trump. I have a Country to run!"
A spokesperson for JPMorgan Chase said the firm regrets "any association" they had with Epstein, and added that the firm "did not help him commit his heinous acts".
Trump's request comes ahead of next week's vote in the House of Representatives on whether the Justice Department should release all files related to the Epstein investigation.
The move came as soon as Democrat Adelita Grijalva was sworn into the House on Wednesday, having immediately signed a petition waiving the demand for the files to be released.
Her signature was the 218th – the final signature needed for a House vote.
