Two arrested after woman was repeatedly hit on the head with a hammer
Two men have been arrested after a woman was hit multiple times on the head with a hammer in west Belfast.
The attack occurred at a property in the Springfield Avenue area at around 05:30 GMT on Sunday.
A man and a woman reportedly entered the home armed with a knife and a hammer. The man then stabbed the woman multiple times, whose condition is unknown.
Subsequently, a 40-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, including aggravated burglary and causing grievous bodily harm.
They are also suspected of causing criminal damage, attempting to cause grievous bodily harm, and intentionally causing grievous bodily harm.
A PSNI spokesperson said they are "currently in custody and assisting with police inquiries."
It is also reported that an internal door and a TV were damaged.
Police have appealed to anyone with information to contact them.
