Lane Kiffin denies Ole Miss ultimatum
Lane Kiffin clarified on the “Pat McAfee Show” that Ole Miss did not give him a deadline before next week’s Egg Bowl to decide on his future.
“There has been no ultimatum, and that’s absolutely not true.. We’re having a blast and I love it here," he said.
In fact, Kiffin had said before appearing on the show that he and Ole Miss Athletic Director Keith Carter were doing yoga together.
Rumors began circulating on Sunday that Kiffin and his family were seen visiting Gainesville on Sunday and Baton Rouge on Monday.
As most people know, Kiffin is being pressured by both Florida and LSU, and although he denied that Ole Miss had given him an ultimatum, he did not rule out visiting other schools.
Kiffin's response has always been that he's happy where he is, but that doesn't mean he won't take a higher position.
This is the first time the Rebels will reach the College Football Playoff, something neither Florida nor LSU have done recently, which is why they are putting pressure on him.
This is the third consecutive year Kiffin has led the program to a 10-win season, and the school will compete for a national championship in this sport for the first time since the 1960s.
But his lack of an answer on whether he'll be leaving or staying could reveal a lot about his future at the school. We may not know his decision until the season is over, but for now, he's firmly committed to Ole Miss.
