Trump said the district, which he carried by 26 points, deserves representation aligned with America First priorities rather than lawmakers who undermine Republican momentum. His endorsement comes amid growing backlash over Indiana’s redistricting vote.
The former president sharply criticized incumbent Spencer Deery, accusing him of betraying voters by opposing redistricting — a move Trump said benefited Democrats and activist judges while costing Republicans potential U.S. House seats.
According to Trump, Indiana became the only state in the nation where Republican legislators effectively weakened their own party’s congressional prospects, allowing Democrats to gain ground despite strong GOP voter support statewide.
Trump contrasted Deery’s record with Copenhaver’s leadership as Fountain County GOP Chair, highlighting her role in helping elect Republicans at the local level and strengthening grassroots conservative infrastructure.
