Washington, D.C. — President Donald J. Trump has officially announced his nomination of Kevin Warsh to serve as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, marking a major development for U.S. economic policy and global financial markets.

Warsh, a former Federal Reserve Governor and one of the youngest ever to serve on the Board, brings decades of experience spanning government, global finance, and academic leadership. He currently serves as the Shepard Family Distinguished Visiting Fellow in Economics at the Hoover Institution and lectures at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

In addition to his academic roles, Warsh is a partner at Duquesne Family Office, working alongside legendary investor Stanley Druckenmiller. He holds an A.B. from Stanford University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School, and has conducted extensive research in economics and finance.

Internationally, Warsh is credited with shaping global monetary reform. His independent report to the Bank of England, proposing changes to the conduct of monetary policy, was later adopted by the British Parliament — a rare distinction for an external advisor.

Warsh previously served on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors from 2006 to 2011, acting as the Fed’s representative to the G-20 and as the Board’s emissary to advanced and emerging Asian economies. He also served as Administrative Governor, overseeing the Fed’s operations, personnel, and financial performance.

Before joining the Federal Reserve, Warsh worked in the White House as Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy and Executive Secretary of the National Economic Council, following earlier roles at Morgan Stanley & Co. in mergers and acquisitions

.

In announcing the nomination, President Trump praised Warsh as a proven leader with deep institutional knowledge, calling him a future standout among Federal Reserve chairmen and expressing full confidence in his leadership.

If confirmed, Warsh’s appointment is expected to signal a significant shift in U.S. monetary policy, with markets closely watching for changes on interest rates, inflation strategy, and central bank independence.
