The family of Renee Good, an unarmed US citizen and mother who was killed by a federal immigration officer in Minneapolis last month, has not been contacted by Donald Trump or anyone in his administration since her death.
Good's brother, Brent Ganger, said, "We hired our own investigator—so that the truth would be clear and out in the open, that this would be taken seriously, and that we would know what happened."
During the interview, Good's family spoke openly about the aftermath of the shooting, which led to a flurry of false claims from the Trump administration. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem falsely labeled the 37-year-old mother of three a "domestic terrorist."
Good's brother, Luke Ganger, said, "We are the ones who know Renee." "Nobody else knows Renee."
He added, "There are a lot of opinions and whatever, but we are the ones who know her, and these other things aren't going to change that." The family described Good as a kind person who loved raising her children.

The family told news outlets they have not yet seen the video of the moment a federal immigration agent killed Good on January 7.
"I can't do this," Brent Ganger said.
Good's father, Tim Ganger, said he would have taken the bullets instead of his daughter.
He said, "As her father, my first instinct was: I could have done something else to save her instead of being in front of her a thousand times."
Good's family requested a private autopsy last month, which revealed that Good was shot three times: in her arm, breast, and head.
The private autopsy, along with the incident report from the day she was shot, also described two "clear gunshot wounds" to the right side of Good's chest and a "possible gunshot wound" with protruding tissue on the left side of the patient's head.
Despite the lack of support from the Trump administration, Good's family has received messages from members of the community and others across the country expressing their grief over her death.

Good's mother, Donna Ganger,"I felt so much peace when God said: 'I have Renee. Everything is okay. I will walk with your family through this difficult time. You won't be alone.'"
She added, "We are so grateful to have had Renee in our lives for 37 years." "When you are grateful, it changes your perspective."
Just weeks after Good's death, Alex Pretty became the second victim of a fatal shooting by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis. Family and friends of the 37-year-old intensive care nurse also spoke highly of Pretty's character, describing him as "happy" and someone who "brings out the best in us."
Speaking to the New York Times, Pretty's parents recalled their son's frustration over the Trump administration's immigration crackdown in Minnesota.
Pretty's father said, "He said: 'Mom, they're kidnapping children.' Why would anyone do that? Why would people treat each other like that? It doesn't make sense. There's no reason to do that."
